Success for Scholars of All Ages

To the Editor:

While I found the group of articles called "How 4 Young Scholars Reached the Tenure Track" (September 4) interesting, how newsworthy is it that young scholars are getting jobs? I'd be far more intrigued to learn what's being done to fight ageism in the academy, and if graduates over 40 -- who have led interesting, rich, and non-traditional lives -- are being welcomed into tenured positions.
