Study Documents Lack of Diversity in Chemistry Departments
A University of Oklahoma study has found that minority groups are poorly represented in the nation's leading chemistry departments.
The results of the recent survey were published in AWIS Magazine, the publication of the Association for Women in Science. The study determined that of the 1,637 tenured or tenure-track faculty members at the top 50 chemistry departments in the United States, 22 are Hispanic, 18 are black, and three are American Indian.
