Study Challenges View That Clinical Trials Have Focused on Men
In a discovery that runs counter to widespread belief, researchers at the Johns Hopkins University announced last week that women are not underrepresented in clinical trials after all. On the contrary, tests of new treatments on women outnumbered those on men from 1966 to 1995, the researchers found. But other scientists say the study is limited and should not detract from efforts to compare men's and women's responses to drugs in clinical trials.
