Students Who Put Up Anti-Muslim Posters Imply You Can Combat Hate With Hate

Well, this is a twist.

Apparently those anti-Muslim posters that caused such a stir at George Washington University on Monday were created and put up by a group of students for the purpose of “exposing Islamophobic racism.” According to The GW Hatchet, a campus newspaper, seven students have admitted that they hung the hundreds of posters and said that their intent had been misinterpreted. The posters said, “Hate Muslims? So do we!!!”

The university, which regarded the posters as a potential hate crime, continues to investigate the incident.

The posters may have been an attempt to mock David Horowitz’s Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, planned for later this month at George Washington and other campuses. Mr. Horowitz certainly thinks so. —Thomas Bartlett
