Students Say Newspaper Program Has Declined at Northwestern U.'s Journalism School

When diplomas were handed out at graduation for Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism last month, nine graduates used the ceremony for an unusual form of commentary.

They refused to shake hands with Ken Bode, who is stepping down as dean, after he had taken the opportunity at the public event to defend himself against those who say the print-journalism program has gone soft under his watch.
