An anti-sweatshop sit-in in the office of Stanford University’s president led to the arrest of 11 students on Tuesday, the San Mateo County Times reported. The five-hour protest, like one last month at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, was intended to pressure the university into adopting tougher rules to prevent licensed manufacturers of Stanford apparel and other products from using sweatshop labor in overseas factories. The president, John L. Hennessy, was not in his office at the time. —Andrew Mytelka
