A female student at Zanjan University, in northwestern Iran, whose allegations of harassment against the university’s vice chancellor led thousands of students to protest and stage a sit-in at the campus last week has herself reportedly now been arrested.
The BBC News site’s account of the student’s arrest said that the charges against her were still unclear, but that the local prosecutor was reported to have said that “publicizing certain crimes is worse than the crimes themselves.”
Videos of students forcibly taking the vice chancellor from his office at the university have been posted on YouTube, along with other scenes from the recent unrest. —Aisha Labi
