Student Strike Ends in Nepal
Classes in Kathmandu resumed last month after a two-day strike by a Maoist student group ended amid signs that it was losing its popularity with many students and parents. Earlier in the week, the All Nepal National Free Students' Union had demanded that all schools and colleges in the Nepalese capital shut down for five days to protest the arrest of some of its members.
"We have called off the strike in the public interest," said Devendra Parajuli, a leader of the group.
