The main student newspaper at the University of Wisconsin at Madison has fired its state editor after finding what it said was evidence of plagiarism in at least 12 articles he had written over the last few months. In a message posted on its Web site, the editor in chief of The Badger-Herald apologized to readers and to the publications from which material had been lifted. The plagiarism included data, quotes, and even whole paragraphs. The top editor, Taylor Hughes, also said that the articles had been removed from the Web site.
