Student-Loan Industry Losing Friends in Education Department
For the past several years, student-loan companies have had powerful friends in Washington. Now they are not so sure they still do.
As the Bush administration enters its final year and a half, the loan companies are being warned by their lobbyists that so many politically appointed Education Department officials have left that contacting the department directly for help may no longer be desirable.
