Student Fund Raisers for Romney Campaign Get a Piece of the Action

Political campaigns have long relied on the youthful energy and idealism of college students to help fuel their quests for electoral victory. Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who is now running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, seems to think some students might need a more powerful motivating force than zeal for his candidacy. According to the Associated Press, Mr. Romney is offering participants in “Students for Mitt” a 10-percent cut of any money they raise for his campaign after the first $1,000. The percentage is comparable to what fund-raising professionals typically draw from political campaigns. —Andrew Mytelka
