Student Dies in Fraternity-House Fire at U. of Missouri at St. Louis

A senior at the University of Missouri at St. Louis died early this morning in a fire in his off-campus fraternity house, the Associated Press reported. The blaze, of unknown origin, did not injure anyone else, but it destroyed the building. The incident followed by two weeks a fire at a fraternity house at Nebraska Wesleyan University that killed one student and injured three others. Investigators there have ruled out arson, but they did confiscate dozens of fireworks from the burned-out building. USA Today reported in August that deadly fires routinely occur in such off-campus dwellings because there is no adult supervision and the buildings are typically fire traps.
