Student Dies in Blast During Football Game

In an apparent suicide, a student at the University of Oklahoma was killed in an explosion near the university's football stadium on October 1.

The blast occurred just before halftime of a game between Oklahoma and Kansas State University, and some 84,000 people were in the stadium.

The explosion sent security officials scurrying to cordon off the site of the blast and to search for other bombs. None were found.

The FBI identified the blast's victim as Joel Henry Hinrichs
