Stranger on a Strange Campus
By VICTORIA JAÉNI recently attended a conference on student retention, where I learned a few techniques for keeping "minority" students on our campus. Many of the conference's speakers used the holistic notion of the student as a social, emotional, and developing being, rather than just someone majoring in a particular discipline.
I wholeheartedly support every study and activity that leads to one person's considering another as a human being, in academe
