Since Katrina, Mississippi colleges have made progress but face long-term challenges

Nearly six months after Hurricane Katrina destroyed much of their beachfront campus, administrators and faculty members from the University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Coast branch held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week to celebrate the opening of two double-wide trailers near their temporary campus at a former hospital in Gulfport.
