States Make Progress in College Preparation
States are doing better in ensuring that their high schools prepare students for college and the work force, says a nonprofit organization that seeks to promote cooperation among different sectors of education.
In a report released in April, the Washington-based group, Achieve Inc., says 12 states have aligned high-school graduation requirements with postsecondary expectations, up from five last year. An additional 32 states are either aligning their standards or plan to do
