State of California Takes Over a Community College
The State of California took control of Compton Community College late last month, after the state community-college system's chancellor, Mark Drummond, concluded that the local college district's administration was not capable of resolving the institution's longstanding problems.
Students and faculty members at Compton have complained about the conditions at the two-year college, including sporadic Internet access and a lack of rigor in the curriculum.
