State-Mandated Tests Rarely Motivate Learning, Study Suggests
Will new high-stakes tests make high-school students learn more, increasing their chances of getting into college?
That is the hope of many state legislators and testing advocates across the nation. But a new survey of more than 4,000 high-school teachers by the National Board on Educational Testing and Public Policy, based at Boston College, reveals that many educators have concerns about the proliferation of standardized tests.
