State Judge Blocks Move to Fire Board of California's Loan-Guarantee Agency

At the urging of California's student-loan-guarantee agency, a state judge issued a temporary restraining order last week to prevent its parent agency, the California Student Aid Commission, from firing its board of directors.

In the order, Superior Court Judge David P. Yaffe said he was satisfied that the guarantee agency would suffer "great or irreparable injury" unless he took such action.
