State Community-College Leaders See Pressures Building on Their Institutions

Community-college officials in more than three out of five states believe that sharp increases in tuition at public universities are driving students to two-year institutions, according to survey results presented Monday at the American Association of Community Colleges' annual convention here.
In many states, community colleges do not feel well prepared to absorb substantially more new students. Of the 48 states covered in the survey, which was administered in the last third of 2007
