CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, announced today the date is set to start its most ambitious experiment, the Large Hadron Collider (The Chronicle, July 18, 2008). The first attempt to circulate a beam in the machine, the largest particle accelerator in the world, will happen on September 10.
