Star-Spangled Campus Revelry

Throughout American history, colleges and universities have helped make the Fourth of July a stirring and celebratory day. This year will be no different, as institutions across the country plan fetes to bring students, faculty members, and local residents together in prayer, song, and hot-dog eating.

Pennsylvania State University at University Park will hold one of the most elaborate celebrations in the country, with a huge fireworks show that will consume 10,000 shells and cost
