Stanford U. Announces Energy-Research Institute
Stanford University announced last week that it had raised $100-million to establish an institute that will study issues like energy efficiency, renewable energy, and global warming, and will promote practical solutions to global energy problems.
A collection of gifts will allow Stanford to establish the Precourt Institute for Energy, expected to be one of the nation's largest research centers on renewable energy, without significant federal or industry support. The start-up money
