Stanford Creates $20-Million Program to Forgive Teachers' Loans

Stanford University has matched a $10-million gift to create a $20-million loan-forgiveness program for students at its School of Education who teach for four years after they graduate. According to a news release issued by the university, the program will encourage students to become elementary- and secondary-school teachers by sharply cutting the debt with which many of them graduate.
