Sports Programs and Reform
To the Editor:
Joe B. Wyatt's suggestions for reforming college athletics are fundamentally flawed ("Our Moral Duty to Clean Up College Athletics," Point of View, August 13). They assume that the student subspecies referred to as the student-athlete really exists. While there are, perhaps, individuals who prosper in the classroom and on the athletic field, the direction of college athletics makes this an increasingly difficult task to accomplish.
