Sports Group Urges Use of E-Mail Surveys
Using e-mail surveys to gauge the interest of both male and female students in participating in varsity athletics will protect colleges from sex-discrimination lawsuits, said the College Sports Council, an advocacy group for men's sports.
The group began a letter-writing campaign in August to urge colleges to conduct such surveys, specifically including two institutions that have recently eliminated men's teams: Rutgers University and California State University at Fresno.
