Speech Threat Overstated, Report Says
The National Association of Scholars issued a statement this month questioning the timing and political motivations of organizations that are raising concerns about academic freedom on campuses in the wake of September 11.
Universities have punished or threatened to punish professors who have attacked United States policy in the Middle East, or made comments that Muslim students have found threatening and inappropriate. The University of South Florida has even vowed to fire a professor
