Speculation Abounds on Identity of Next Education Secretary
Will the next U.S. secretary of education please stand up?
Only a few weeks are left until George W. Bush takes office as president, and a clear front-runner for the education post had not yet emerged as of late last week.
One former Democratic lawmaker, who observers believed had a good shot at the job, has withdrawn from consideration. Half a dozen others have been identified as contenders.
Among them are Lt. Gov. Frank Brogan of Florida, a former school superintendent
