Southern Cal Sues to Reclaim Teaching Hospital

The University of Southern California filed a lawsuit on Tuesday seeking to force the health-care company that owns the university’s teaching hospital to give up its control. According to the Los Angeles Times, the university accused the company, the Tenet Healthcare Corporation, of putting insufficient money into the 15-year-old hospital to improve it and keep it current. The Times quoted Tenet officials as describing the lawsuit as a negotiating tactic in efforts to force a sale. They said the company had met its obligations to upgrade the hospital.
