Southeastern Conference Universities Struggle to Get Off NCAA Probation
When Michael L. Slive took over as commissioner of the Southeastern Conference, in 2002, he vowed that every athletics program at the organization's 12 universities would be off national probation within five years.
At present, nine of the institutions are on National Collegiate Athletic Association probation, the same number as when Mr. Slive took office.
