Southeast Asians in Higher Education
To the Editor:
Peter Schmidt's "Study Challenges Assumptions About Affirmative-Action Bans" (The Chronicle, February 8) plays lip service to diversity within the Asian-American community. At the same time, it wholeheartedly promotes the notion that Asian-American students are harmed by affirmative action.
In reality, some Asian-American ethnic groups need affirmative action, while others don't. Southeast Asian refugees with roots in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos are
