South Dakota and Tennessee Join the Ranks of States Building Virtual Universities
Tennessee and South Dakota are quietly building statewide virtual universities, joining a growing number of states that are centralizing services for distance education.
Both virtual universities are expected to open in the fall. However, neither of the new institutions will grant degrees or offer courses on its own.
In South Dakota, the Legislature recently approved spending about $119,000 to help start the South Dakota Electronic University
