Regent University has tapped the Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to give its commencement address this year — and, according to the Associated Press, some students and alumni are not happy about the selection.
Many evangelical Christians are suspicious of Mr. Romney’s religion — he is a Mormon — and his commitment to conservative principles. But it’s not the first time the university has invited speakers who don’t seem to fit the Regent mold: Al Gore and Alan Dershowitz have both spoken there.
