Social Justice in Teacher Education
To the Editor:
Ditching social justice and sexual orientation might help the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education reverse its waning appeal (and, we assume, revenues), but it prompts us to ask who or what will be excluded from the organization's so-called professional standards next ("Education Scholars Debate Social Justice," The Chronicle, May 4).
NCATE acknowledges that teachers must be prepared for diversity in education, and it previously encouraged
