You know that you don't have to retire. That makes quite a difference in how you feel about your retirement party. My generation assumed mandatory retirement at age
65, going on Social Security, and drifting off into watching your garden grow. The sharp increase in life expectancy and observable physical and mental vigor in the aging population, however, have led to a major change in how society views the elderly.
