Smithsonian Books to Split Into Scholarly and Trade Divisions
PRESS CLIPPING: Smithsonian Books, an academic-publishing unit that has been struggling to fulfill a requirement to break even, will be split into two parts early next year.
Under a reorganization plan that had not been publicly disclosed until last week, some academic books will continue to be published by the Smithsonian Institution, under the Smithsonian press imprint, using federal grants that the institution will distribute to its museums and other units that conduct scholarly
