Should Spirituality Be Part of Social Work?

I was delighted to discover that some social-work programs now include courses on spirituality ("Programs in Social Work Embrace the Teaching of Spirituality," May 18). I hope this trend not only continues but accelerates, though I also hope it will not do so solely under the rubric of spirituality. Academics trained in the field of religious studies -- which encompasses spirituality and much more -- could make a serious contribution to the formal education of those
