Shorter College Severs Ties to Ga. Baptists
Shorter College is breaking its close ties to the Georgia Baptist Convention in a dispute over who will elect members of the college's Board of Trustees. The college intends to become an independent Baptist institution.
The college and the convention have been at odds since early November. The convention, at its annual meeting, chose eight people to sit on the college's board, but the college refused to seat them. The college said the convention had deviated from earlier practice,
