Several Leaders in Higher Education Announce Resignation Plans

December is a time for giving, and for leaving your job, it seems.

Announcing their resignations this month: Tommy G. Thompson, the U.S. secretary of health and human services, C. Peter Magrath, president of the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges, and Eugene W. Hickok, the Education Department's deputy secretary.
