Service Workers in Academe
To the Editor:
As one who is fairly new to the higher-education culture, I've been struck by the invisibility of the service workers on my campus ("Going to Harvard for $7.50 an Hour," The Review, September 26). I've watched them working quickly and quietly, as Greg Halpern described the workers at Harvard University, and I have often wondered how much they feel included in higher education, or even feel appreciated for what they do.
I was struck by Mr. Halpern's observations
