Series at Cambridge University Press

In the course of his essay titled "Are University Presses Producing Too Many Series for Their Own Good?" (The Review, October 27), Lindsay Waters offers some assessments of the development of academic-book series at Cambridge University Press in the 1970's. He claims that the motivation for establishing these series was "almost purely commercial" and that Cambridge saw an opportunity "to add books without adding staff members."
