Senator Grassley Denounces Tax-Free Perks for College Chiefs
U.S. Sen. Charles E. Grassley, who has criticized the high pay of private-college presidents, is now questioning the tax-free perks some college leaders receive.
In a statement provided to The Chronicle on Tuesday, Mr. Grassley, a Republican of Iowa, took issue with nonprofit colleges that provide presidents with extra money to cover taxes on bonuses, their children's tuition, and other benefits.
