Senate Republicans Delay Spending Bills
Republican leaders of the U.S. Senate have decided to postpone voting on all remaining spending bills for the 2007 fiscal year until January, when a new, Democrat-controlled Congress will convene. As a result, any increased financing for student aid and scientific research will be delayed into 2007, complicating planning by university officials who depend on this money.
Some observers had predicted that Republicans would have little desire to complete work on all appropriations bills
