Senate Committee Approves Increases for Pell Grants and the NIH
The Senate Appropriations Committee voted last week to provide the National Institutes of Health with a $3.4-billion boost in the 2002 fiscal year, a larger increase than that proposed by House of Representatives appropriators and President Bush. The Senate spending plan would also increase the maximum Pell Grant by $250, to $4,000.
