Selling Books, a Sentence at a Time
When I teach writing to university students, I stress the importance of building from a strong foundation. I insist that the excellence of an essay, or even an entire book, often depends on the strength of individual sentences, even phrases. I encourage students to read their writing aloud and pay careful attention to the sound of their words and the structure of their sentences.
