The Chronicle's recent reporting on the discussions surrounding the collapse of the World Trade Center buildings on September 11, 2001, seems to reflect the rising level of cognitive dissonance emerging in the public on this topic ("A Berkeley Engineer Searches for the 'Truth' About the Twin Towers," September 8, and "Despite Post-9/11 Fears, Groups That Protect Academic Freedom Remain Strong," September 22).
