Seeking Leniency for Iraqi Weapons Scientists
Before its invasion of Kuwait in 1990, Iraq supported a vibrant scientific community that included many scientists who had received their advanced education and training in the West. They attended international conferences, collaborated with colleagues throughout the world, and published in foreign journals.
With the imposition of sanctions by the United Nations, all that activity came to a halt. Thereafter, Iraqi scientists worked in limbo, cut off from scientific developments
