A federal judge ruled today that a new trial for Sami Al-Arian will be delayed until at least August, the Associated Press reported. A federal jury acquitted Mr. Al-Arian, a former professor at the University of South Florida, on some terrorism-related charges in December and deadlocked on others (The Chronicle, December 16, 2005). Federal prosecutors are still deciding whether to retry him on those counts.
