Sea Grant Program Will Stay Put
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill last week that would renew the Sea Grant College Program, ensuring that it will remain within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The Bush administration had proposed moving the program to the National Science Foundation and, in the process, de-emphasizing or closing its 30 regional offices. Even so, the president is expected to sign the bill, which also was approved by the Senate.
