Screening Students for Mental Health
To the Editor:
I was extremely disappointed by "Student Suicide and Colleges' Liability," by Robert B. Smith and Dana L. Fleming (The Chronicle Review, April 20). While they may be offering what seems to them to be logical legal arguments, my reaction to the article was the same as when I read many research articles: Yes, the results are statistically significant, ... but the real-world implications are sorely underestimated or lacking.
